Toby
is a prolific theatrical impresario – in North America, Australia,
China, Europe and between. Through
his wholly owned Chinese corporation, Toby consults with various live
and film entertainment companies, and controls worldwide rights to
various new musical & film projects in development including
Sacrifice
of Yang GuiFei (Musical & Film), Tea 4 Two
(Play & Film) and The Great Big Chinese Show
(tour) as well as various live theatrical entertainment projects.
Since 1982, Toby has been privileged to work with major Oscar®,
Tony® and Grammy® winning stars and has produced, managed and/or marketed over 150 productions bringing
unparalleled experience within the theatrical community.
Highlights of major productions include Eileen Atkins in The
Female of the Species (West End); Jefferson Mays in Tony®
Award winning I Am My Own Wife (West End, Broadway and USA
tour); Brian Dennehy in Tony® Award winning Death of a Salesman
(West End and Broadway); Vanessa Redgrave, Brian Dennehy and
Phillip Seymour Hoffman
in the Tony® Award winning Long Day’s Journey into Night
(Broadway); Liam Neeson and Laura Linney in Tony® Award nominated
The Crucible (Broadway) and Julie Andrews in
Victor/Victoria (Broadway).
In Asia, as V.P. Asia Pacific and Executive Producer of TML
Enterprises, Korea and Taiwan tours of Jekyll & Hyde
starring Brad Little and Korean, New Zealand and Singapore tour of
The Rocky Horror Show and the Australasian production of
A Chorus Line. As V.P. & Executive Producer of Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment (since 2000)
include mainland China tours of 42nd Street; Elton John & Tim Rice's
AIDA, the light spectacular LUMA, and FAME the musical,
and consulting work in Istanbul, Turkey, and Taiwan.

An
award-winning internet pioneer, Toby is credited with leading the
Broadway theatre industry into cyberspace in the early 1990s. Toby served as
President and Chief Operating Officer of Theatre.com Inc., a company
he founded as Buy Broadway in 1995, which grew from a
personal vision for how to reach more international ticket buyers
to a public corporation in 1998 and
sold in 2000.
During this period, he personally
produced the vast majority of online marketing
campaigns for over
100
Broadway shows and 50
companies on Broadway and in the West End. Shows that
Toby has been involved in marketing have garnered an
additional 243 Tony®
nominations and 96 wins.
For 12 years, prior to relocating to China, Toby was a consultant to
Music Theatre International, the leading licensor of the majority of
musical theatre.
Toby often lectures on theatrical production, management and marketing in major educational
institutions and at arts conferences worldwide and is a consultant to various theatrical
corporations on 4 different continents.
