a note from the author, DJ Wizniak...

When I first moved to Beijing, China in 2005 the country was in a constant state of change. The city of Beijing had won the 2008 Summer Olympics and the city of Shanghai the 2010 World Expo.

I spent a lot of time walking the city streets, back alleys and Hutongs. I was intrigued to see the old buildings in the city being demolished. I did, however, understand that they were clearing the way for a new generation of citizens and architecture.

I started to feel a sad sense of nostalgia and wanted to tell a story I saw in the faces of the people I came across every day.

当我在2005年第一次到中国北京的时候，这个国家正在不断地发生巨变。北京获得了举办2008夏季奥运会的资格而上海获得了2010年世界博览会的举办权。

我花费了大量的时间在不同的后院和胡同中行走，我对许多旧建筑在北京城内被破坏而感到好奇。当然我也明把一他们是为新的城市人口和新的建筑的到来扫清道路。

于是我开始有了怀旧的淡淡的忧愁，并渴望把我每天遇到的人写成故事。
